Thailand's wild forests can no longer support elephants who've spent their lives around people — the habitat that once held them is gone, fragmented by roads, farmland, and towns. A sanctuary isn't a replacement for the wild; it's the closest thing left to a life without chains, without work, and without harm. That's the reality we're built around, not a marketing choice.
An adult elephant eats roughly 200–250kg of food a day and needs regular veterinary checks that aren't cheap. Every booking here goes toward exactly that — feed, land, medicine, and the people who care for the herd day and night. We're not chasing profit margins; we're covering the real cost of a dignified life for every elephant on this land.
Plenty of camps in Chiang Mai use the word "sanctuary" while still using hooks off-camera or chaining elephants overnight. We don't expect you to just take our word for it — ask us anything, watch how our mahouts actually interact with the elephants, and judge for yourself.
Real ethics don't need to hide.
A little rain doesn't change life at the sanctuary — elephants enjoy the cooler weather as much as anyone. Visits continue as normal in light rain, with covered shelter available if needed. In the rare case of severe weather, we'll contact you in advance to reschedule at no extra cost. And on days with fewer visitors, the elephants simply have more space and quiet to themselves — their routine never depends on a full booking sheet.
We want every guest to enjoy their time here, regardless of age or mobility. Let us know in advance if you or someone in your group has mobility needs, and we'll adjust the route and pace accordingly. Paths are mostly flat dirt trails, with some uneven ground near the river — comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Elderly visitors and young children are welcome, and our guides are happy to slow down or offer extra support wherever it's needed.
